HSIE Marking Rubric and Guidelines


Information about country includes but is not limited to:
Name
Location (map + description)
Language spoken
Currency (conversion to dollars/pounds/euro - nearby countries)
Population
Climate
Flag

Exports and Imports
2-3 of each with explanation of who you are importing from/ exporting to and why - back up with evidence such as government information from that country stating it's major exports and/ or imports/

Interdependence with other countries
How is your country globally connected (with who - how and why?). How your country and another country rely on each other?
This could be through:
Imports and exports
Sporting events
Tourism
Allies

Foreign Aid
Countries you provide aid to and why. What aid is provided and who from (link to organisation e.g. building schools - Project Compassion) and what human rights it is aiming to help meet e.g. Right to Education from UN convention on the Rights of the Child.

Presentation
Information is presented in a legible manner including graphics (e.g. labelled illustration, graph, table, map etc). Graphics may be printed or drawn in coloured pencil so long as they are visually appealing.
Note: The content is your key focus. This is not a presentation to the class but refers to your work being able to be clearly understood and conveying the information required to meet the above criteria. 
Make sure that your understanding is shown in your presented work! If it's all in your head, we can't see it! 

Timeline:

Week 2: Country Information
Week 3: Foreign Aid
Week 4: Imports and Exports and Introduction to Global connections.
Week 5: Wednesday: 2 Learning sessions - Complete 'Interdependence with other countries/ Global                        connections'
              Thursday: 2 Learning sessions - Finalise all content areas, adding extra detail where necessary to                 ensure highest standard of work. Check quality of presentation and improve if needed.


You will be required to explain where you have placed yourself on the marking rubric during marking, so ensure that you understand the information you are writing and can explain your choices.
